How Are You Measuring Yourself?

Are you in a position to ask your mother these questions? How would she react?

Personally, I've tried to think of this issue "Do I care what others think of me?" in a good way. If you say, yes, I care what others think of me, it can put a friendly twist on it.

I've learned where the line is though; when it creates fear and becomes obsessive, and it very quickly can, then I know I've crossed it.
You are seeing the big picture, as you so often do!

Don't sweat the small stuff and it's all small stuff, isn't that the cliche that actually very true? I like to ask myself when I am stressing over something little (what should I wear, how much should I spend on a gift, what wine should I bring to the dinner party, will I get there on time? ), what's the worst thing that could possibly happen? That usually gets to the fear that underlies the stress and once I know what I'm afraid of, I can often let it go or explore it further until I get to a place where the worst thing that might happen isn't really all that awful at all.

Nice post!
Sure, I can ask my mom these questions, but she usually tells me she can't change herself. And so I suppose she's right. I like where you draw your own line, and the concept of the "friendly twist." That's using your own measurement system to your advantage. Thanks!
