If your vision of your dream life includes things, places, people, money, experiences and perfect health, you still might want to add a couple of things....
If I want my dream possibilities to come true, I need to spend the time to mentally focus on that divine place in time when they have come true. If what I see of my future is fuzzy, or dark, or the status quo, then the dreams I want to bring to life will struggle. If I don't ponder them at all, what chance have they?
Know the life you wish to create inside and out. Deep familiarity with your dreams will allow you to predict the future you will create.
]]>Scientists have discovered that cells grown in 3-D spaces such as gelatins behave differently and more powerfully than when their growth is limited to flat, two-dimensional environments like petri dishes. Limiting the cells' growth to a flat space changes the metabolism, gene expression and growing patterns of the cells. When given three dimensions in which to grow, the extra dimension opens new possibilities for the cells that are unavailable in the petri dish. The cells' immediate surroundings guide and modify their behavior and growth.
Similarly, visions and dreams that are written down or pasted on vision boards only reveal a tiny portion of the power inherent in those visions and dreams.
In order to unleash the full power of your vision, give it a multi-dimensional space in which to grow.
How? Wear your vision like a skin every day. Live your life as if your vision had already come true.
When you allow your vision to be expressed not only in writing or pictures, but also verbally, socially, emotionally and actually, you will increase the power of your vision by at least an order of magnitude. Your environment will respond to your living vision by giving you what you need to bring your vision to life while at the same time molding your skills as its creator.
For just one week, live as if your dream had already come true. How would your behavior change? Your self-talk? Your emotional landscape? How would you move through your days, knowing that you had already arrived?

]]>I am not Jewish, and perhaps that's why I was amazed to find an article in my Easter paper about a local temple adding a few not-particularly-religious incentives to their Friday ritual: a band and a bar. They call it Schmooz'N Shabbat, and it happens once a month. This Friday, there's an extra hour of partying they're calling Kegs & Kahillah.
If you've ever attended a Christian church, this will probably seem very foreign to you. YET. This temple has figured out a way to encourage young Jews to attend services and then congregate, which is what the temple is all about. Since attendance by a younger audience had been declining, the temple came up with this strategy. Their answer is a bit out of the ordinary, but has been effective, with about 150 people attending both the services and the Schmooz portion of the evening.
Here's what the temple figured out: if you do the same thing over and over again, you're likely to create the same results.
Let's say that you have a challenge facing you right now. Could you spend 15 minutes imagining wacky answers to the problem, things that you wouldn't "normally" do? And then....if one of those answers appealed to you...could you do it?
When you compare the risk of doing the same old thing over and over again—that is, that you'll end up in the same place you are now—versus the risk of trying something completely new and different—which risk has more downside? Just asking.....
A gutter installer named Rick came by my house to give me an estimate at 7:30 this morning. He was a pleasant man, and his business was just a few blocks from my house.
The first thing he asked me was, "How did you hear about us?"
(If I could get my all my business coaching clients to do that, I would be so happy!)
I told him that first I'd found him on Google, and then I saw him in the Yellow Pages. On Google there was just a simple listing, and I told him he would be doing his business a favor if he put up a website. That way, he could tell his story to the people who used the Internet to look for services. He agreed that he needed one, but he was just not an Internet person. I told him I could recommend a designer, and then all he would need is the copy and some pictures. He asked me for my card, and read my title.
"Chief Amplifier?" he said. "What's that?"
I said, "I help individuals and businesses discover new possibilities for themselves and amplify those possibilities into reality. For businesses owners, that means I do things like help develop a growth strategy, design new profit centers, open new sales channels, and ultimately, help the owner put together an exit strategy, so he or she can stop working and go on to something else."
He laughed, in an "I wish" sort of way. "I don't think I'm gonna stop working any time soon. I'm raising three kids. I just don't see it."
I smiled, and said, "It could happen. You just need a vision and a plan."
But I could tell he didn't believe me. And I wondered if Rick would ever get his mind out of gutters and set his sights on the stars.
